Roger Nation, 66, of Clayvillage, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. Born in Shelby County, he was the son of the late Marzetta Phillips Nation. A U. S. Navy Veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War, and he was a member of the Waddy Church of Faith. A former meat cutter, he was also a stonemason and he owned and operated Rockin' Roger Lawn Service. He was an enthusiastic fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats and the Shelby County Rockets. His hobbies also included country and western dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Nation of Clayvillage; daughter, Reagan Nation (Tim) of Shelbyville; sons, Kevin Skelton (Lynn) of Bagdad and Andy Skelton (Susan) of Waddy; father, Joe Nation of Clayvillage; brothers, Russell Nation of Clayvillage, Leroy Nation of Shelbyville, and Eddie Joe Nation (Marilou) of Clayvillage; five grandchildren, Kristi Skelton, Amanda Skelton, Brittany Skelton, Justin Skelton, and Zachary Skelton; and great-grandchild, Trenton Satterly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with Rev. Gayle Brown and Rev. Steve Boyd officiating. Interment will be in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
