Jeanne Bryars Ashcraft

Jeanne Bryars Ashcraft, 70, passed away peacefully in Provo, Utah, on January 16, 2015, surrounded by her eternal companion and nine children. Jeanne was born in Burley, Idaho, to Woodrow Wilson "Woody" and Eileen Elizabeth Hoggan Bryars on January 13, 1945 in her grandmother Hoggan's home. She spent a happy childhood near the Minidoka Dam and attended school in Acequia, Idaho, graduating from Minico High School with honors in 1963. Jeanne attended BYU before marrying her high school sweetheart, Ron, on August 11, 1966, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Their first four years of marriage were spent in the Air Force during which time two children were born. They lived in Pocatello and Rupert before settling in Nampa in 1977. During these years, seven more children joined the family. Jeanne devoted her life to her family, loving and caring for her children. She could often be found reading stories, helping with homework, and tending to her home. She used her skills and talents to make her home a haven from the world.
Jeanne was a devoted daughter to her parents and cherished sister, a faithful servant in her church, holding many callings. In Jeanne you could always find a devoted friend, loving mother, and supportive companion. She took great joy in serving and looking out for others. She was excited to be at the MTC training for a senior couple mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her father, Woodrow W. Bryars, her mother, Eileen Hoggan Bryars, two brothers, Donald Bryars and Jerold Bryars, and a grandson, Matthew Barfuss. She is survived by her husband, Ron Ashcraft; nine children: Belinda (Brad) Brooks, Darren (Leticia), Thane (Jennifer), Patrice (Paul) Davenport, Lanette (Jeff) Barfuss, Ronda (Glen) Young, Clint (Emily), Amy (Roger) Sharp, and Kenneth (Teralin); forty-four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Bill) Clelland of Edmonton, Alberta; one sister-in-law, Sharon Bryars and numerous extended family.
The family extends our sincerest thanks to the kind staff in the Cardio ICU at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, for their compassionate care, the MTC for their kindness, and those who shared thoughts and prayers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23 at the LDS South Stake Center, 7809 Deer Flat Road, Nampa. A viewing will be held at the Stake Center on Thursday, January 22 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa, 467-7300. Condolences may be expressed at
