Barbara L. Juliano, 96, of Hingham, died peacefully Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Exeter Hospital, Exeter, N.H. She was born in Brockton, December 7, 1918, a daughter of the late Harold and Aleatha (Ouderkirk) Howes. Raised in Stoughton, she graduated from Stoughton High School and later Bridgewater State Teachers College. Following graduation she worked as an elementary teacher for 11 years in the Stoughton school district. She was married for 36 years to Dr. Peter H. Juliano who passed away in 1983. She devoted her life to being a supportive wife and mother. Mrs. Juliano was a member of the Brockton YMCA where she led a womens fitness class for 40 years and she also served on the Board of Directors at the Y for 25 years. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church in Brockton where she participated in the choir. She also served on the Security Federal Savings Bank Board for 25 years. Barbara moved to Linden Ponds in 2006 where she continued to enjoy her passion for music, singing with the Linden Ponds Singers & Chorale, playing piano for Vesper services and performing in annual Linden Pond Repertory shows. In earlier days, she enjoyed skiing and tennis with family and friends. Family members include her daughter, Linda L. Higgins and her husband John of Exeter, N.H.; sister, Beverly Moore of Mattapoisett; sister-in-law, Anna Juliano of Brockton; brother-in-law, Donald Juliano and his wife Alice of Cape Cod; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert S. Juliano, and brothers, William, Bernard, Harold, Bruce and Robert Howes. Services will be held in the Linden Ponds Theater at Linden Ponds, 204 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to Old Colony YMCA, Development Office, 320 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301 or the Linden Ponds Student Scholarship Fund, 204 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham, MA 02043.
