Beverly Jones

Beverly J. (Trainer) Jones was welcomed by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 31, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She is reunited with her husband of 57 years, Harrison Edward "Ted" Jones, Jr. Bev was born in Baton Rouge, LA on September 10, 1934 to J.C. Trainer, Sr. and Ena Mildred "Jackie" (Hurst). Shortly thereafter, she was on the move as her father was an Iron Worker Superintendent and traveled frequently. Louisiana, California, Tennessee, West Virginia, Zacapu, Mexico, and many different Texas towns were all lived in, but Pasadena was home. 5th grade saw her finally complete a full year at the same school in Oak Ridge, TN. She spent most of her high school years in Pasadena, and graduated Pasadena High School in 1952. She received her Business Certificate from Draughon's Business College in 1953. Bev met Ted in 1949 while attending a Walther League (Lutheran youth group) function and never looked back. They were married on March 21, 1953 and after a brief time in San Antonio while Ted completed basic training in the Air Force, they were off to Denver, Colorado where he would be stationed for the next several years. Bev worked at Air Force Finance Center, but every weekend found them in the mountains....hiking, camping and exploring old mining ghost towns. They also found time to have a photography business, squeezing a dark room into their apartment. In 1956, with their firstborn in tow, they returned to Texas and made a home in Houston where 3 more children were born. As a homemaker, Bev was active in both her church and civic community, serving leadership roles in both. She treasured her times spent with the Lutheran groups, Helping Hands and LWML. She served as a Girl Scout Leader with her daughters, having fond memories of her own girl scout years, achieving Mariner status. With her children grown, she got her Realtors license to work alongside her husband. As "Ted Jones Land Co.", they had many enjoyable years of working together, in both Coldspring and Houston. They also shared a music ministry, playing music and making friends at several Houston and Galveston area nursing homes. Bev enjoyed baking and loved to try new recipes, much to the delight of those around her. She also loved to read and was well-known at her library. But the best was being with family and friends, loving them unconditionally and giving generously in whatever capacity was needed. Preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Jackie Trainer, husband Ted Jones and son Bob Jones, she is survived by son, Ed Jones and wife Karen, daughters, Cindie Gruetzmacher and husband Bob, Carol Fitzpatrick and husband Joe; grandchildren Robert Jones and wife Carla, Stuart Jones, Kyle Fitzpatrick and wife Jennifer, Meagan Fitzpatrick; great-grandchildren Lexi, Teddy and Delaney Jones; brother J.C.Trainer, Jr. and wife Joyce; cousin-in-law Dolores Gaddy; many cousins, nieces and nephews. A special Thank You to the caring staff at Autumn Leaves of Clear Lake who made a difference in the life of Beverly and her family this past year. Visitation is Tuesday, January 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Grandview Funeral Home. Funeral services are Wednesday, January 7, 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 5050 E Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX. Burial will follow the service at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.grandviewfunerals.com.
