Maurice 'Pete' Garneau
ROLLINSFORD - Maurice "Pete" Garneau, 68, of Silver St. died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover.
Born in Rollinsford on October 5, 1946, the son of Adelard and Merilda (Croteau) Garneau and has lived here all of his lifetime. He was a graduate of Dover High School. He was a member of the American Legion Post #47 of Rollinsford and was a volunteer firefighter with the Rollinsford Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a firefighter having worked at Pease Air Force Base until it closed and then at Hanscom Air Force in Bedford, Mass., until his retirement. He then worked for the Oyster River School District for 14 years and retired in 2013.
Pete is survived by a son Aaron Garneau and wife Katy Babylon of Rochester, a daughter Laura Duffy and husband Sean of Lebanon, Maine, a brother Robert Garneau of Somersworth and a sister Paulette Mitchell of Rollinsford and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Gerard, Marcel and Paul "Tiger" Garneau, and his sisters Marlene Lapanne and Anita Michaud.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, January 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church, Rollinsford. Burial will be in New Town Cemetery in the spring.
