Stanley Grady Cole was born on May 8, 1928 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Henry Grady Cole and Katherine June Cole.
Stan went home to be with the Lord on January 13, 2015 at the age of 86, after a long battle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Audrey Ellis Cole. Children include Judy Cole Franklin and husband, Jon Franklin; Stanley Grady Cole, Jr. and wife, Lena Cole; and Donald Ellis Cole. Grandchildren are Kevin Cole, Stacey Franklin Weber, Lisa-Marie Cole, and Bella Balette. Great grandchildren are Caden Cole and Cason Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Dennis Cole and wife, Ruby Cole, and several nieces and nephews.
After his family moved to Houston during World War II, Stan graduated from Jeff Davis High School, then attended Texas A & M University and The University of Houston. He earned two bachelors' degrees from the University of Houston, the first in business and the second in engineering. Stan worked for Humble Pipeline Co., Exxon Coal, and Exxon Corporation. He retired after 40 years service, then moved to The Woodlands, TX. A short time later, he was called back to work for two summers in Alaska, assisting with public relations regarding the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup.
Stan was an avid golfer playing 5 days a week regularly in The Woodlands, his retirement home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Tues., Jan.20, 2015 in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. A reception will follow. The church is located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380. There will be a private burial service later for the family.
