Bill is survived by his wife, Dee Boedeker, his daughter, Deborah Jean Boedeker Bolanos and granddaughters, Jennifer Bolanos, Michele Bolanos, Lynette Bolanos and Karyn Bolanos, also, by his son, William B. Boedeker.
Bill was a graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He coached basketball and baseball before he volunteered for military service. He served at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Engineering Combat Battalion during the Korean Conflict.
Bill's military service consisted of 3 years of service in the Corp of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, VA where he completed officer candidate school training graduating as a 2nd lieutenant. He was assigned to Fort Carson, Colorado for a period of time.
He served with the 151st Engineer combat Battalion overseas in South Korea and was in charge of having materials shipped to the orphanage being built by his unit on an island near Inchon.
He was then assigned to the Battalion headquarters in South Korea as the Battalion Adjutant in charge of the record keeping.
After Bill retired from insurance, he substitute taught in high schools in St. Louis County for two years.
Hobbies included long early morning walks, softball, baseball, and playing cards. Bill played senior softball in other cities and states on a senior all-star team.
Bill loved animals and very much enjoyed his pets over the years.
A service will be held at The National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida on January 27, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.
A reception will follow at St. John's United Methodist Church, 6611 Proctor Road, Sarasota, Florida 34241.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Methodist Church in Sarasota, Florida.
