Marion Watson Otey, 90, of Bedford, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born in Roanoke, on May 8, 1924 a daughter of the late, Levi Austin Watson and Ruby James Dooley Watson. She was retired Postmaster with 27 years at the Thaxton Post Office and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, William Alexander â€œBillâ€ Otey and her brothers, Warren A. Watson, William Watson and Richard Elmo Watson. She is survived by her son, Warren A. Otey and his wife, Donna; her daughter, Linda O. Nofsinger and her husband, Ralph; her grandchildren, David Nofsinger and his wife, Kim; Amy N. Church and her husband, Mike; Cherri O. Terry; Tracy O. Wilson and her husband, Doug; Chris and Betsy Burch; Michael and Lauren Cochran; her great-grandchildren, Ryan A. Nofsinger, Peyton Elizabeth Church, Jessica Terry, Zachary Wilson, Marlee Wilson, Caid Burch, Levi Burch, Ryleigh Cochran and Owen Carpenter; her sister-in-law, Kathryn Watson; niece, Wendy Watson Stone and her husband, Jeff; nephew, Billy Watson and his wife, Carrie; her cousins, Ruby Dooley Key and Betty Dooley Miller; nieces, Ruby Ann Watson Bishop and husband, Millard and Theresa Lynn Watson; her caregivers, Janet Carper and Therisa Horsely; and a special thanks to Sara Tomlin at Lynchburg General Hospital. Memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel with Rev. Jeane Dunkum officiating.
