Terrence (Terry) Huff, 82, of Kingwood, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, surrounded by his family.
He was born the son of William Tipton Huff, Jr. and Mable Inez Kelly on August 12, 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Terry's father worked as a lobbyist during a simpler time in government, and Terry had the unique opportunity when young to help deliver mail in the US Capitol building. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Washington D.C., where he quarterbacked the school's football team. Terry loved flying and was a Captain in the United States Air Force. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Science from the University of Oklahoma and his Master's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. After a long career as a chemist for Monsanto and then Exxon, Terry retired in 1994 with upwards of 40 patents to his name. While he very much enjoyed chemistry, he also loved the sciences in general and was a student of the history of mathematics. In his free time he enjoyed reading and classical music and was an avid golfer and bridge player. He was a member of Baytown Kiwanis Club and a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church in Baytown.
Terry is preceded in death by his mother and father and by a brother, William Tipton Huff III. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Grace Huff; a son, Lawrence Huff, and his wife, Amy; a daughter Laura Grace Huff, and her husband Martin Miller; and a beloved granddaughter, Amanda Grace Huff.
A memorial service for Mr. Huff will be held, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
